Treasure Trove #1: eBay Home Finds
It’s time I put my unhealthy addiction to the website to good use.
Antique Marquetry Box - $342
I first came across marquetry when trying to find the source for a table that Pierce & Ward put in Emma Robert’s home (no luck, if you find let me know!). I have seen it emerging elsewhere lately too and I love the celebration of wood and craftsmanship it creates. If you’re local to LA, Grandpa on Hillhurst has a marquetry box for sale that is even more stunning, if you can believe it.
Swedish Embroidered Textile - $16
A sweet little textile that I would frame. The colors are perfect in my eyes. It’s Swedish but I think it also speaks well to the Arts & Crafts era that is having a resurgence right now.
Metal Wall Plaque - $90
I am her and she is me!
Danish Teak Ice Bucket - $135
Danish and teak, need I say more?
California Landscape Oil Painting - $425
As still somewhat of a California newbie (3 years and counting) I’m a sucker for anything that celebrates this majestic wonderland of a state.
Embroidered Tablecloth - $175
Another embroidered textile to frame, I imagined that this would be perfect on the wall in a dining room.
Paolo Soleri Bronze Bell - Auction at $91
My friend Anna, the owner of the stunning Folk Textiles, owns a bell like this and I’ve always admired it. I believe it’s currently hanging in her kitchen, which I love, but it could really add a unique touch to any space inside or outside your home. Here’s another one that I love.
Bulgarian Troyan Plate - $32
I have been loving the colorful marbled items we’re seeing more of lately in the design world. Bulgarian Troyan pottery has many interesting examples of that technique, and I especially love the colors on this plate.
Tramp Art Frame - $125
She’s got character and we love her for that. Such a unique frame to display a photo or print.
Ceramic Wall Pocket - $295
I stumbled upon the world of Roseville wall pockets and they really scratch an itch for me. They’re not cheap but you could always offer less or add them to your list of items to hunt for at a thrift store. I’m also eyeing this more art deco one, this green one, and this magnolia option. If you prefer something more earthy, I really enjoy this other wall pocket for $35.
I hope you enjoyed this roundup of my picks! Pro-tip, don’t be afraid to submit a low ball offer. Let me know what you thought or bought.
